You can hear the mentality of subtle restraint and understatement, which is typical for the Romanian minimal movement, shining through in Andu Simion’s sound. At the same time, he is able to carry you away to euphoric heights, to a place enveloped in warm grooves, little pinches of acid tingling the atmosphere.
Simion was born and still lives in Ploiesti, a small city located near the Romanian capital Bucharest. There, he works as a photographer, producer and dj, having released on labels like Eric Cloutier’s Palinoa and Diffuse Reality. In 2013, he co-founded the Lisière collective, a record label and dj/live act project he runs together with Bogdan Ardeleanu and Dan Gheorghe. We could not agree more with their approach: “When they felt the world around them was getting too chaotic, they looked into nature and music to calm their spirits and give life a new meaning.”
